Went to London and bimled about the east end- our favourite bit of London. Lots of new shops around Redchurch Street - Labour and Wait - relocated from Cheshire St., a great shop on the corner selling all sorts of 3D fashion objects, embroidered book covers and customised found objects. Large factory site of Aubin and Wills and most importantly 'HOSTEM'.
Truly fascinating-interiors by Jamesplumb who really need to be Googled. The little shop feels like some pared back Dutch painting - dark, monochromatic and filled with all sorts of created objects cast in plaster and cement.
Sanded old floorboards and reclaimed church furniture.
Fantastic clothes too - all mens wear- one shirt warns not to be washed in water but put in the freezer for twelve hours and the swing tag is an old alpine photo from the 50s(?) - telling about the commitment to recycle the found fabric.
Go to the www. hostem.co.uk website and you'll find loads of info and a fantastic playlist.
Image from Berlin but feels like Hostem.
